About the Team

The team that this role will be on is a dynamic and diverse engineering team within Nutanix, primarily focused on developing and enhancing Kubernetes-based applications. With members located in the United States, India, and Europe (specifically Germany and other EU countries), the team's culture is founded on collaboration and flexibility, as it integrates members from various geographical locations and backgrounds. The mission of the team is to leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver high-quality solutions that streamline cloud management, foster innovation, and enhance operational efficiency for customers.

You will report to the Director of Engineering, who embodies a leadership style that emphasizes strong managerial expertise, technical involvement, and collaboration with engineers. The work setup for this role operates in a hybrid environment, with a strong preference for local candidates. While specific days for in-office attendance are not strictly defined, there is an expectation for the new hire to participate in office activities for certain interviews and collaborative sessions, fostering effective team interaction.

This role does not require any travel, allowing the team to focus on their responsibilities and projects without the need for extended time away from their immediate work environment.

Your Role

• Oversee and manage a diverse team of engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity across multiple geographical locations.
• Engage in product discussions and contribute to design and architecture decisions, leveraging technical expertise in Kubernetes.
• Conduct regular code reviews to uphold quality standards and promote best practices within the engineering team.
• Facilitate the integration of new open-source applications into the existing platform.
• Support team members in troubleshooting technical issues and provide guidance to enhance problem-solving skills.
• Participate in the hiring process by interviewing candidates and assessing their fit within the team culture.
• Assess team structure and dynamics, implementing adjustments to optimize efficiency and performance.
• Establish relationships with team members to foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment.

What You Will Bring

• Proven experience in managing engineering teams, preferably larger organizations.
• Strong technical expertise in Kubernetes and its applications.
• Capability to engage in product discussion, design, and architectural decision-making.
• Experience conducting code reviews and identifying best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience with technical issue resolution.
• Ability to foster collaboration within a geographically diverse team.
• Strong managerial skills with a focus on effective leadership and feedback.
• Education in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering) preferred.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $195,200 and USD $391,200 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
